Every few years I renew my interest in our family genealogy, I find it amazing the amount of hard work others put into it. This time I hit the jackpot and a family line previously undiscovered took me back to 160 AD. I am still skeptical but it is fascinating to think that my family tree includes Kings, castles and nobility of several nations.
If this new info is correct, I am related to an infamous person who was beheaded and Shakespeare wrote a disparaging character based on him. Yoohoo!?
But really how does this affect my life? It doesn’t change or disparage my blue collar roots. It won’t change the facts of my grandmother life (a descendant of this line as well) or my life.
During World War II, my grandmother went in to a diner. She didn’t have very much money. Ordering a cup of hot water, she added ketchup to the water enjoying her tomato soup. They charged ten cents for the water. Every time I recall this story it makes me sad.
Whose in your family history? I love to collect stories especially the stories of family. What do those stories say about you?
My story about my grandmother makes me grateful that I have never been hungry enough to call ketchup and water tomato soup. Maybe the beheaded ancestor explains my dislike of politics? Who knows? Maybe it’s all me! LOL
